LONDON 3 PM MATINEE: A Benefit Tribute to the Contemporary Voices of Ukrainian Literature. MyAnna Buring, Maryam D'Abo, Chris Eccleston, Simon Callow and more bring to life Ukrainian Stories & Poems and Alla Sirenko, Ukrainian composer and concert pianist will evoke the heart and soul of Ukraine with her original piano compositions. This event will take place at London's Crazy Coqs where seating is extremely limited!
Selections of short stories, poems, and essays by some of Ukraine’s finest contemporary authors, brought to life in performance by great actors, featuring Ukrainian composer and concert pianist Alla Sirenko. Performers include MyAnna Buring, Mary’Am D’Abo, Chris Eccleston, Simon Callow and more TBA.

Alla Sirenko, Composer and Concert Pianist
Alla Sirenko’s composition style has been described by critics as ‘magic realism’.
She is one of the most prominent composers and pianists that emerged from Ukraine in recent years and her works have gained recognition in Europe and beyond. She has 3 Degree Diplomas: from the Kyiv Conservatory as a pianist, from the Tallinn Conservatory as an organist and from the Lviv Conservatory as a composer. She also studied at Cambridge, Moscow and Lubeck.
Alla was the first Ukrainian composer to be premièred at the Royal Opera House, London through her opera-fantasy The Golden Penguin.(www.thegoldenpenguin.com)
She was for 10 years a Composer in Residence for the Lviv Opera House in Ukraine, where her operas and ballets became part of their main repertoire there. In addition, Alla continues to work for Sony Music Publishing and Warner Brothers as a film composer.
Her composition and performance of Ave Maria, especially commissioned for the late Pope’s visit to Ukraine, was televised to several million people around the world. Her Cantata for Peace for mixed choir and symphony orchestra, using five European languages, was commissioned for major European celebrations and became a pivotal point to her concert tour in France, a few years ago.
Three films have been made about Alla and her music. The first was made for the Italian International Film Festival “La Donna in Musica” and was broadcast in Italy, Cannes, USA and Japan. Another two documentaries about her life and music have been made for the Central Ukrainian Television.
Alla’s other major works for the stage includes the opera Verona (after Shakespeare) and the ballet The Little Prince (after Saint-Exupery). Orchestral works include a Mass dedicated to Dmitry Shostakovich and Spanish Suite dedicated to F.G. Lorca. Highlights of works for soloists and orchestra are The Pantheon Fantasy (piano) dedicated to the Heroes of the two World Wars, The Ukrainian fantasy for solo violin, viola and orchestra; Requiem for the soldier for choir and orchestra ,and the song-cycle The Love of the Mermaid (soprano and narrator) after H.C. Andersen’s fairytale.
Some of her latest commissions include Mosaics of the Sea for 2 French Horns and orchestra for soloists from London Symphonia for Dartington Festival, and the chamber opera “Antract for Primadonna”, based on life of the friend of Puccini, the Ukrainian famous singer-Solomia Krushelnitska for The Lviv Opera Theatre.
Alla was for the last sixth years the Composer in Residence, Producer and Artistic director of the Ukrainian Cathedral Concert Hall in Mayfair, London, where she was organising classical concerts and events regularly.
In the autumn 2020 year she has found and became a President of the Ukrainian Cultural Association in the United Kingdom (UCA-UK), www.ucauk.com where various cultural and music events takes place regularly to promote the best Ukrainian and International talent in the UK and beyond, and to help for vulnerable people in Ukraine through charitable donations from these events.
On June 2022 she performed for more than a week a show “Love and distraction” at the Playground Theatre, playing her own compositions with actress Maryam d’Abo.
Creative successful relationship was born and developed in other creative ideas and performances. The latest one a concert on 6th of August 2022 at St.Oswald’s festival in London.
Alla Sirenko is a full member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians in Great Britain; The Composers Union of Ukraine; Novello Academy, Worshipful Company of Musicians of City of London, the founder and a President of the Ukrainian Cultural Association in the United Kingdom
